  8. GMON?
  9.  
  10.       GMon (pronounced Gee, Mon) is a door organizer, and integrator
  11.       which will work with almost _any_ BBS program. It performs
  12.       what I call 'complete file conversion' which will convert your
  13.       BBS programs door interface file into almost any other type of
  14.       door interface file, allowing you to run almost any door!  GMon
  15.       works well with door games, but was designed to allow you to use
  16.       _any_ type of door. (mail doors, fax doors, order doors, etc.)

  18.       Yes, there are other programs which do similar things as GMon, but
  19.       GMon allows you to run all of these doors from one central area,
  20.       GMon itself. The user would enter 1 door (GMon) from your BBS (this
  21.       cuts down the amount of work you have to do adding or deleting
  22.       doors) and then enter all of the other doors from there.

  24.       GMon allows you to put all game door bulletins in GMon's bulletin
  25.       area, minimizing (or eliminating) the clutter associated with all
  26.       of those game bulletins in your BBS.

  30.       GMon is a proven product. It has been used by BBS's for over 4 years
  31.       now!  Originally designed to work with RBBS-PC only, GMon 4.0 is
  32.       a complete rewrite of the program allowing it to work with any
  33.       BBS.

  36. WHAT GMON DOESN'T DO
  37.  
  38.       GMon cannot make non-door programs work like doors.  There are other
  39.       well designed programs which do this, and I didn't want to re-invent
  40.       the wheel, so to speak.

  42.       If the door you are using modifies a parameter in the door interface
  43.       file, GMon currently can't report that modification back to your
  44.       BBS. This will be enabled in the next version.
  45.  
  46.       For instance, if you run PCBoard, but decide to use a caller
  47.       verification door designed for RA, GMon will not be able to pass back
  48.       the updated security level if the user verification succeeds.  I'm
  49.       working on this right now! (this is MUCH more complicated than it
  50.       sounds!)

  53. TO INSTALL GMON
  54.  
  55.       Type INSTALL at the DOS prompt.
  56.  
  57.       You will be put into the GMon editor program (contained in GMON.EXE)
  58.       There you will need to start editing various options.  The main
  59.       options you will want to edit are:

  61.       Your BBS Name
  62.       Your First Name
  63.       Your Last Name
  64.       Your Security Level
  65.  
  66.       And edit the security levels for each GMon command. There are a few
  67.       commands which are considered 'SysOp' commands, and should have a
  68.       SysOp security level.
  69.  
  70.       And you can go from there. It is best that you print out a copy of the
  71.       docs, and keep them by your side when you use the editor to familiarize
  72.       yourself with all of the options!

  74.       To re-enter the editor in the future, you can use the GMON /E command,
  75.       or the E)ditor command in GMon itself.
